Sample Rendition Profile
For Me - The New Eddie!

1. My name is Eddie. I live in an old part of Bayonne, NJ.

2. I’m a freshman at Colorado State University, and much happier here than at home.

3. I have a brother Bob and a sister Kate, both who are older than me and they are both just like my parents.

4. I love my family but don’t want to be like my parents.

5. My parents, Bob and Kate all are too passive. They do not have strong convictions about anything, and they do not like speak up when they are taken advantage of, at least in my opinion.

6. I was afraid that I would be the same way and I wanted to change.

7. My Dad was usually on my case to find a freakin' job, but there were really no jobs around.

8. My desire to be different from the rest of my family caused me to be reclusive and introverted, but I am now seeing why I felt that way. I am so much happier being outgoing and extroverted. I am going to parties and enjoying myself here.

9. I feel so much freedom here at CSU. Totally liberated, and happy to be away from home. Both Bob and Kate went to colleges locally.

10. End this on a funny note about not being someone who gets pushed around and who does not just accept things. I’ve realized that I have a backbone and I am not so passive anymore.

It’s Me, The "New" Eddie!

People think they know me, but they’re in for a surprise,
So here’s a chance to get a glimpse of me through my own eyes

I hope you’ll take a moment now, to read my little rhyme
I’m different than I used to be, once upon a time

I used to be a lonely guy, not having many friends
But I’m a different Eddie now, and that’s where all that ends

‘Cause now I come to parties, whenever I’m invited
No longer feeling like a bore, and never feeling slighted

I changed when starting college, and living on my own
My life is so much better here, than back in Old Bayonne

My Dad no longer tells me, to “Find a freakin' job”
And Mom no longer asks me, to “Act much more like Bob”

I’m able now to focus, on who I want to be
I’m feeling like a captive bird, who’s finally set free

My parents really love me, I know they want what’s best
But they don’t want me speaking up to get things off my chest

Instead they’ve always taught me, to quietly consent
To most of what I get in life, to show no discontent

But now I’m second guessing, whatever’s at my core
Each day I’m rearranging, the things I’ll settle for

‘Cause now I’m quite outspoken, I speak what’s on my mind
I only say what matters, though, I have no axe to grind

I’m loving all this freedom, at Colorado State
Where I do anything I want, and stay up very late

When I was back in high school, I worried every day
That lacking strength of character might let me waste away

I’m doubting that will happen, my confidence will grow
‘Cause now I do things for myself, so unlike long ago

So Mom and Dad I ask you, and you my sister Kate
Do you think when I graduate, I’ll still accept my fate?
