For Johnnie's Christening!

Johnnie’s Christening:
My nephew, John is being baptized on January 9. He was born the day of the biggest snowstorm we have had in 10 years. He is the son of Jessie and John, Sr. and he is their third child. His oldest sister is Caron, and his other sister is Kristen. They are like little moms to him. Caron, who’s 6 years old, likes to give him his bottle and tries to help her mom bathe him and feed him. Caron says she wants to have her own baby one day, “who will be just like Johnnie, only with more hair.” Johnnie still has no hair on his head, and as a result looks just like his father. Kristen, who’s 2 years old, calls him “Don,” and wonders why he cannot talk yet. She is always talking to him though, although she is apparently the only one who knows what he is saying. Everyone is wondering if little Johnnie will follow his father’s footsteps and become a policeman, or if he will get an office job like his mom. She is the divisional controller of United Airlines and says that sometimes she just wants to fly away for a day or two herself. But Jessie would not be able to stay away for 2 hours, much less 2 days. She is a great mom and loves her family very much. She also got the little boy she hoped she would get and she is elated with him.

I love you, Johnnie!

 Happy Christening, Johnnie!

A miracle was born to us the day we had the snow
The baby’s name is Johnnie and we’re thrilled to watch him grow

The boy will have a Christening, on January 9
We look at him and know that he was sent by the Divine.

Now John and Jessie are his folks, and they are just the best
Although they’re thrilled with their new son, they both could use some rest

He has two older sisters and they act like mother hens
They fuss all over Johnnie and the three are best of friends.

Though Caron’s only six years old, she’s like a little mother
She plays the part so well that we forget that John’s her brother

She gives him kisses day and night, and constantly displays
The love she has for Johnnie as she tends to all his ways

His bath time is a special treat, she handles him with care
Her parenting’s endearing, and her tenderness so rare

Now Kristen is the younger one, she can’t be more than two
Although she tries her best to chat, her John will only coo

She talks to him incessantly, a steady stream of chatter
The fact that baby John can’t talk just doesn’t seem to matter

So Kristen watches Caron as she feeds her brother John,
Some think that he’s been named all wrong, ‘cause Kristen calls him “Don”

The baby looks like Daddy with no hair upon his head
And Caron wants a son “like John with lots of hair instead”

His Daddy’s a policeman and he keeps them safe from crime
Should Johnnie choose to be a cop, more crooks would serve their time

United Airlines, Mommy’s work, could that be Johnnie’s fate?
We don’t know what he’ll choose to do, so we’ll just sit and wait.

His Mom would like to take a day and “fly the friendly skies”
Three kids are quite a handful and we know how hard she tries!

“I’d just be gone a day or two,” she dreams when things get crazy
“I’d love to sit upon a beach" but then the dream gets hazy

She’d never leave her kids for long, they need her gentle touch
Although the dream sounds beautiful, she’d miss them way too much!

Our little group is now complete, three feathers in the nest
To have these souls we hold so dear, our lives are truly blessed!

I love you, Johnnie
